My studio is located in the historic Troy Laundry Building in Portland, Oregon. It is a happy and busy space where I teach sewing classes to children throughout the school year and host camps and workshops during the summer. I am committed to helping students develop skills that build confidence, encourage problem solving, teach them patience and get them thinking about about what goes into producing many of the things they buy. More than anything else, I love to see them experience the joy of creating—much like I did as a kid.
In addition to teaching, I make clothing and functional items for myself and my family and am currently working on a collection of hand-woven, one-of-a kind products for home and personal use. I value handwork and believe in the importance of making things with care. I’ve studied painting, printmaking, graphic design and have worked for a short time in advertising and as a graphic designer. But I have always loved my sewing machine, fabric and fibers best.
Thanks for visiting!
